National
Collection Status
I am very pleased to inform all
visitors to my website that The National Council for the Conservation of Plants
and Gardens has granted my vine collection of hardy outdoor dessert and wine
grapes full collection status as from 12-11-04 .I have held by far the largest
and most active collection for a number of years, and one, moreover, where
active research into performance is ongoing ,and new promising varieties being
actively sourced and trialled. I feel the award has been fairly earned .I will
continue to seek out and trial promising varieties, seeking out in particular ,
disease resistant high quality varieties ,and new and promising seedless sorts.
As a result of many years of
trials, we are in a position to offer a range of dessert and dual purpose
varieties for the keen amateur, as well as an unrivalled range of wine grapes.
The majority of our vines are suitable for outdoor cultivation, some in
situations (e.g. north facing walls) which would not be normally be regarded as
suitable, or warm enough.
